Speaker B:Jesus answered, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14 Six I went to the bank the other day because I needed to get into my safe box to retrieve some paperwork. The banker verified my identity and escorted me into the vault where the boxes are kept. Each box can be opened only when two keys are inserted into the locking mechanism. The bank has one key and the individual box holder has the other. I dutifully passed my key to the banker. The banker then began searching for the matching key on a four inch ring loaded with keys. He tried one key, then another, then another, with no success. Several minutes lapsed, but he ultimately found the matching key and was able to open my safe box. Entering into the presence of God is much like getting into your safe box at the bank. You will never be allowed access unless you use the right key. A bumper sticker I saw not long ago stated, there are many ways to God. The driver posting that sticker may mean well, but he is wrong. There is only one way to God, and that is through Jesus Christ. Good intentions, best efforts, and even sincerity and devotion may be noble characteristics to possess, but none opens the door to the throne room of God. There is just one key that unlocks that door. In Romans five, verses one and two, the Apostle Paul writes we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. It is not good looks, good deeds, or good luck that earns our salvation. It is Jesus alone whose death and resurrection have paid the penalty for our sins. Who has unlocked heaven's door. No one is allowed to enter unless they enter through him.
