Speaker A:

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to man by which we must be saved. Acts 412 I typed a letter on my computer screen and signed my name at the bottom. When I told my computer to check the spelling on the letter, it told me it could not find my name in its dictionary. Concluding that I had entered an incorrect word, my computer suggested that I use the word buncombe, b u n k u m, instead of burkham, b u r k u m. But what on earth is a buncombe? I pulled out my dictionary to find the definition of the word buncombe. Turns out it means foolish talk or nonsense. Well, isn't that just dandy? A preacher is supposed to speak words of wisdom, but my computer wants to associate my name with foolish talk. I guess in a sense my computer is right, though one corinthians 118 states that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those of us who are being saved, it's the power of God. I may never be a great or famous preacher, but I will always do my best praying that at least in my circle of family and friends, my name will always be associated with what is right and true, instead of just foolish talk or nonsense. The Bible tells us that the name of Jesus will always be associated with salvation. An angel told Joseph that the child Mary had conceived and would bring forth into this world was to be named Jesus. For this reason, he will save his people from their sins. After Jesus death and resurrection, his apostles preached the gospel everywhere they went, proclaiming without apology that salvation is found in no one else, but in Jesus, the one who came to save us from our sins. Some of you might be thinking about an old song that goes like this. Jesus. Jesus, Jesus. There's just something about that name. Master savior Jesus. Like the fragrance after the rain Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Let all heaven and earth proclaim. Kings and kingdoms will all pass away. But there's something about that name. Indeed, as the scripture declares, salvation is found in no one else. That may not be politically correct these days, but it is still right, and we don't ever need to apologize for saying so.
