Lawnmower Blades

Speaker A:

In your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have first. Peter 315 every year I sharpen or change the blades on the church lawn mower. What a difference sharp blades make. A sharp blade is essential for a neatly groomed lawn. Everyone knows that. But does anyone know that spiritual sharpness is needed for a well groomed christian life and witness? When we neglect faith attendance, prayer, Bible study, and fellowship, our christian life and experience as well as our witness is dulled and contributes very little to the work of the church or to the lives of others. The Lord expects more from us. He expects us to be sharp at all times, demonstrating that godliness and christian witness are our greatest priorities. If your spiritual life or christian witness seems dull, you need to sharpen it. An old camp song reminds us to look sharp, read God's word, and pray to feel sharp. Testify each day to be sharp. Let God have his way and live for Jesus every day this episode airs we are late into the growing season. Even though the grass isnt as long or as thick as it was at the beginning of the year, I can already tell that the mower blades are losing their edge. Ill have to sharpen them or replace them before next spring if theyre going to be effective. The mower blades are a reminder that we need to stay sharp spiritually as well. God deserves our best, and honestly. We want to do our best for him and experience the best that the christian life provides. We cant lose our edge if we hope to be prepared at all times to bear witness to others of our savior and of the faith and hope that we have in him.
